the last Bird has left the nest

Today was the day. A rough day. The day to say goodbye to Elder Bird. As was only fitting, MELT caravaned it on over to the Bird residence to bid him adieu. We chatted for a while, but it soon came time to go. We left with t-shirts sprayed with Kelly's cologne, yummy-smelling soap, Kelly's teeth tracks in a piece of chocolate (in Taren's case), some expertly photoshopped pictures (Kelly's specialty), and tears on our cheeks.

Kelly Christopher Bird has been one of my very best friends since age 15. From the drivers ed, to a pew on my lawn, to the festival of lights, to a yam for my birthday, to fish in the mailbox, to his father the ap history teacher, to square-dancing at the stoplights, to surprise tres leches and horchatas...the memories are endless. Elder Bird is going to be a GREAT missionary. I am so proud of him for everything he's done, and I know he will do so well in Argentina and he will love it. We can't wait to hear from our favorite South American elder. We love you Kelly!!! Siempre, mantenga la fe.
